Anna & John

I’m going to attempt to catch up on blogging the last weddings of 2007! We got so busy in the fall and my blog wasn’t working too well for me but I still want to share these amazing couples and their gorgeous days!

Anna and John were married at the ethereal Barnsley Gardens ruins outside of Adairsville, GA. If you’ve never been there, make the trip. This state historical site is now a full service resort and golf club and one of my favorite venues for weddings. From the quaint cottages to the “haunted” ruins of the Barnsley mansion, it serves as quite simply a stunning wedding location.stevencomp1.jpg
Made all the more stunning by the coordination of Kiersten Pierce of Gooseberry Events and the beautiful event decor by Gloriosa, I was given an unbelievable opportunity to capture this wedding day. The guys started their day with golf in the rolling hills while the gals got ready in the cottages. I had a blast chasing after John in a very fast, Mr.Toad’s Wild Ride style golf cart ride! When we went back to Anna’s cottage, we again rode in golf carts to shoot some fashion bridals of her in the ruins.

Their ceremony took place on the lawn behind the ruins and the setting sun offered some dramatic side lighting. With two adorable flowergirls just about stealing the show, they exchanged vows and then headed back up the aisle for a big group shot with all their guests. I got up on a six foot ladder with my wide angle lens and asked all the guests to gather around Anna & John to get this special request.stevens101307_0706.jpg
As the sun set, that’s when the real drama of Gloriosa’s design came to life. The uplights around the walls of the ruins turned the entire reception into a magical labyrinth. The cake by Buckhead Wedding Cakes which was a beauty to behold by day, became even more breathtaking at night. A big, and I do mean BIG band played oldie favorites and the crowd even sang along to some of the songs!

I will never forget this wedding as it was truly one of the most gorgeous events I’ve ever had the honor of photographing! Can you tell how much I loved it? Take a look at their whole slideshow by clicking HERE. :)
